ORMC Demonstrates Collaborative Service Robots Designed to Support Clinical Teams

ODESSA, TX (June 9, 2026)Odessa Regional Medical Center (ORMC) hosted a demonstration showcasing new collaborative service robots that will soon begin operating throughout the facility to support clinical teams by assisting with routine tasks across the hospital.

The AI-powered robots are designed to help transport lab specimens, deliver patient supplies, retrieve items from supply rooms, and move medications between designated clinical areas such as nursing stations, the laboratory, pharmacy, and hospital supply areas.

By handling routine, non-patient-facing tasks, the robots help reduce the number of steps nurses and clinical staff need to take throughout the day, supporting more efficient coordination of care while allowing more time to focus on patients.

“Many nurses walk several miles during a typical shift, so even small efficiencies like this can make a meaningful difference,” said Stacey Brown, CEO of Odessa Regional Medical Center. “These robots are designed to handle routine tasks behind the scenes so our nurses and clinicians can focus more of their time where it matters most, caring for patients.”

The robots can safely navigate throughout the hospital, including elevators, and are designed to operate in clinical support areas. They do not enter patient rooms.

“As our community continues to grow, innovations like this help support efficiency as patient volumes and service demands increase,” Brown said. “This investment reflects our commitment to supporting our teams while continuing to provide dependable care for the community we serve.”

Training for clinical staff is underway as the hospital prepares for the robots to begin operating in designated areas of the facility in the coming weeks.
